Our Buena Vista roots run deep.

Rather than a large developer coming into town to make a profit and leave, our team of passionate placemakers is led by local resident, Paul Andrews. The majority of the team he’s built to make this project a reality is based in Chaffee County and supplemented by Front Range resources with a love of the Colorado mountains.

We met with many design and community building experts across the Front Range and mountain towns to build a thoughtful team who shares a common philosophy around mountain living and community development. They are now contributing their unique skills to help bring The Crossing to life.

It takes a village to build a community.

With thanks to our small but mighty team (in order of appearance):

  • Special thanks to the original settlers who platted this property for 206 homes in 1892.

  • The miners, farmers, ranchers, railroaders, shop keepers, bartenders, first responders, police, fire, nurses, teachers, parents, rafters, singers, dancers, partiers, and everyone who make Buena Vista the place to be for this and the next generation.

  • Buena Vista resident and home builder who first looked at building on this land in 2021.

  • Long-time Buena Vista resident and connector of creative real estate folks in the area.

  • The man with the vision and determination, Paul’s departure from corporate America crossed at the right time and place for him to lead this vision to create Buena Vista’s next neighborhood. For the past two years, Paul has poured endless energy and contagious enthusiasm into this passion project. He assembled this team to execute on the vision, and worked closely with community leaders and funding sources to generate the support and capital to make the Crossing possible. Communicating that if we “Do the Right Thing” the universe will take care of the rest.

  • We take a collective bow to Paul’s wife for rolling up her sleeves since day one, backing and matching her husband’s passion for driving the future of BV forward, and for bringing her creativity and exceptional problem solving skills to getting the behind-the-scenes work done with little fanfare. This project would not exist if it weren’t for the unwavering support of the first Lady of The Crossing.

  • The OG New Urbanists in Colorado who developed the master plan.

  • To Joseph Teipel, Joel Benson, Caroline Mahoney, Brian Berger, Phillip Puckett, Mayor Fay and the Board of Trustees for your patience with the new guys in town and helping us through the process with care and fairness.

  • Thanks to Kevin for his expertise, local knowledge and Buena Vista history expertise as well as sharing supportive stories as our parents age and pass on.

  • The man with the expertise and experience to validate the development plan, create a capital strategy, turn the vision into a viable business plan, and keep things on track by reigning in just enough of Paul’s enthusiasm.

  • Founder and ED of CHT, Read has dedicated the past 15 years of his life to providing life-changing affordable housing solutions for many families, individuals and couples in Chaffee County. Thank you for inviting Paul into your world, including your kitchen for great coffee, and agreeing to buy as many homes as we could build.

  • Thank you for the positivity, creativity and branding expertise to bring our vision into words, pictures, colors and a reality we could see.

  • Gratitude for the financial modeling expertise and business planning insight.

  • Thanks to Brian for having the expertise, skill and patience to not only design a viable foundation for this community but to juggle the demands of an impatient, inexperienced developer, stubborn town engineer, municipal approval process, and vibrant young family, all at the same time.

  • Our connection to the Colorado Affordable Housing industry, we thank Michael for being able to see our vision of this project, for sharing our love of time spent in the mountains, and for connecting us with all the wonderful problem solvers and funding sources in the affordable housing industry who’ve helped us find the financial resources to make at least 50% of the homes in this first phase permanently affordable to residents of Chaffee County.

  • To our Governor for making affordable housing a priority. To our citizens for passing Proposition 123. To the dedicated staff and professionals at the Dept of Housing, CHFA, DOLA and DLG for believing in our project, understanding its complexity, and supporting our goal to create a win-win for everyone involved.

  • To Sandy and your team for knowing so much town history as well as being the most efficient title crew in Colorado.

  • Matt, Zach and Quinn, for being the best builders in Chaffee County and quitting your day jobs to spend the next ten years of your lives bringing your wealth of construction knowledge and breath of deep relationships to create something in your town that your kids and their kids will be proud of.

  • To Geneva, Paola and Tucker for listening and understanding the vision, the importance of the land and history we inherited, and for bringing it to life with these stunning homes.

  • To Stacey for being a wonderful, no-nonsense, local woman who loves and knows so much about our local environment and the flora that it nurtures. And for using your unique expertise to create a true sense of place through impeccable design and storytelling.

  • For your expertise and care in explaining the facts and stats of affordable housing in our Valley.

  • Thanks to Becky for beginning the journey and Ashley and Jeff for continuing to lead this essential organization through times of change and growth.

  • Kudos to Mark, Jamie, and Joe for their expertise, professionalism, and support of our project. We are grateful for your big balance sheet.

  • Thanks to Patty and her team for keeping us safe and compliant.

  • For knowing more about real estate development than you give yourself credit for and heading up our local marketing and connection efforts.

  • To Kim Lord and Stephen Gurr for your legal expertise and love of the Colorado mountains, both of which keep us safe and the project moving forward.
